What is STP-15?

STP-15 is the acronym for the SCOSTEP’s 15th Quadrennial Solar Terrestrial Physics symposium, which aims to gather eminent scientists from solar, magnetospheric, ionospheric and atmospheric physics communities to discuss and deliberate on the cutting-edge sciences pertaining to Solar-Terrestrial Physics.

Who is the host of STP-15?

The STP-15 is hosted by Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG), a premier research institute under Department of Science Technology, Govt. of India. The year 2021 - 2022 is a momentous year for IIG, which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee coinciding with the semisesquicentennial of Indian Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav). During this ceremonial year, IIG is proud to host the 15th Quadrennial Solar-Terrestrial Physics (STP-15) Symposium in India during 21-25 February 2022.

Who can participate in STP-15?

All research scientists and students working in the field of Solar-Terrestrial Physics encompassing the domains of the Sun, the Interplanetary Space, the Earth’s Magnetosphere and Ionosphere and the Atmosphere are welcome to participate in STP-15.

How can one participate in STP-15?

You may visit https://stp15.in and register yourself with your basic details to show your interest in STP-15. The conference registration opens around October 2021. Please visit https://stp15.in for latest updates.

Do I need to submit an abstract to participate in STP-15?

You may submit the abstract of your work if you wish to make a presentation at STP-15. However, abstract submission is not mandatory. If you wish to participate in STP-15 only to attend the presentations and get involved in scientific discussions, you are welcome to do so.

How many abstracts I can submit to STP-15?

A maximum of two abstracts can be submitted from a registered user.

What are the scientific sessions of STP-15?

How can I modify/withdraw an abstract once submitted?

You can modify/withdraw the abstract(s) submitted by you from “My abstracts” tab in your user dashboard. Login -> User Dashboard -> My abstracts. You can modify/withdraw your abstract till the abstract submission closing date. Please refer important dates for abstract submission start/close dates

Is there any fee to participate in STP-15?

Is there any financial support to participate in STP-15?

Limited financial support is available towards registration fee. Preference in financial support will be given to the participants from the low and middle income countries as per World Bank’s classification (https://data.worldbank.org/income-level/low-and-middle-income?view=chart)

I have submitted my application for financial support, but, later changed my mind to revise/withdraw my application. How can I do so?

I have paid the registration fee and now I could not participate in STP-15. How can I claim the refund of registration fee paid?

Is this STP-15 a virtual conference?

Yes. It is a fully virtual event in view of Covid-19 pandemic situation.

What is the time zone of virtual sessions?

All efforts being made to conduct the sessions in the time zone that cause minimum inconvenience to the participants from all parts of the globe. The outline of the scientific program can be found at https://stp15.in/outline-of-program

I am not able to attend some of the live sessions because I find it inconvenient to attend those sessions due to the local time at my location. How can I view the presentations made by others at a different local time?

All the presentations made by the others who have given their consent to record their presentations will be made available for the registered participants from other local time regions through the STP-15 website (https://stp15.in) during the conference period.

Can I choose a preferred time slot for my presentation?

What if the time allocated for my presentation is not convenient for me?

Will my virtual presentation be recorded?

All presentations by those authors who have given their consent will be recorded and made available for the benefit of participants from other local time regions through the STP-15 website (https://stp15.in) during the conference period.

What is STEPSYS workshop?

STEPSYS is an acronym that stands for the Workshop on Solar-Terrestrial Physics for Students and Young Scientists. STEPSYS will be organized during 19 - 20 February 2022, two days prior to the STP-15 symposium. The objective of this workshop is to invite eminent scientists from the STP community worldwide to give tutorials/lectures to students and young scientists on topics related to Solar – Earth connections. How one can participate in STEPSYS?

Please choose the option “Yes” for STEPSYS while carrying out your user registration on STP-15 website.

Is there any fee to participate in STEPSYS?

This workshop is only for the participants who have completed the conference registration for STP-15 symposium. There is no additional fee for the STEPSYS workshop.

I did not opt to participate in STEPSYS with my user registration, but, later changed my mind to participate. How can I modify my option to participate in STEPSYS?
